The third of Constantine the Great’s sons. He ruled the eastern part of the Empire upon his father’s death. He was implicated (although not proven) to be responsible for the deaths of many of his uncles and cousins. In 350 the usurper Magnetius killed Constans and was himself killed by Constantius II in 353. Constantius fought campaigns in Persia and on the Danube.
