Our section on Horse Coins focuses on the depictions of horses and equestrian riders on coins, medals, banknotes and other numismatic items through history. On certain specimens one may not immediately note the equine form, but a closer inspection will reveal the presence of the horse as cavalry, statuary, workhorse, or in harness.
Depicted are warhorses, stallions, mares, racehorses, quarter-horses, Arabians, Chinese, Mongolians, Clydesdales, ponies, painted horses, Hanoverians, Fox Trotters, Morgans, Palominos, Paso Finos, Walkers, Thoroughbreds, Miniature horses, Pintos, Mustangs, Lipizzaners, mules, donkeys and more. Conveyances may include Barouches, Buggies, Cabriolets, Carriages, Chariots, Coaches, Carts, Covered wagons, Gharries, Hacknies, Jaunters, Hearses, Limousines, Rigs, Sleighs, Stagecoaches, Surries, Traps, Troikas, Vardos, Wagons, or Whims. While we cannot claim to constantly offer an exhaustive inventory of types of horses, conveyances and coins we can attest to our collections being grand and sweeping.
