There are six species of Arctic ice seals: ringed seals, bearded seals, harp seals, hooded seals, spotted seals, and ribbon seals. The Arctic ice seals breed on ice. There are two common predators that Arctic ice seals contend with that Antarctic ice seals do not. One common predator of all Arctic ice seals is the polar bear. The polar bears do not always consume the seal meat, but they do consume the blubber. Arctic ice seal also have to contend with local populations of humans who hunt the seals for meat and fur.
