$9.99Kazakhstan – Eurasian Spoonbill – 50 Tenge – 2007 – BU – Endangered Wildlife Crown – The Eurasian Spoonbill or Common Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) is a wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family Threskiornithidae, breeding in southern Eurasia from Spain to Japan, and also in North Africa. Most birds migrate to the tropics in winter, with European breeders mainly going to Africa, but a few remaining in mild winter areas of Western Europe north to the United Kingdom. This species is almost unmistakable in most of its range. The breeding bird is all white except for its dark legs, black bill with a yellow tip, and a yellow breast patch like a pelican. It has a crest in the breeding season. Non-breeders lack the crest and breast patch, and immature birds have a pale bill and black tips to the primary flight feathers. Unlike herons, spoonbills fly with their necks outstretched.

Minted from sterling silver, the three ruble coin depicts the first satellite on the reverse. The obverse features a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia – the two-headed eagle with wings down and the semicircular inscription under it “???? ??????” (BANK OF RUSSIA). The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicates the denomination of the coin “??? ?????” (THREE RUBLES) and the year of issue “2008”, between them – the indication of the metal sign in accordance with the Mendeleyev Periodic System, the fineness, the mint mark of the Moscow Mint and the fine metal content.

Assembling a complete collection of World Wildlife Federation crowns is an admirable yet feasible goal, as all of the coins are sold out at the mints that issued them and are only available in the secondary market. Both the Great Wall and the Panda are uniquely emblematic of China and are considered national treasures.
