Camp Greenbriar is the oldest privately owned summer camp in the United States. Founded in 1898 the camp sought to balance rigorous academic learning with no less rigorous athletic and wilderness training. Located in Alderson West Virginia Camp Greenbrier has always been one of the premier camps for boys. From 1917 to 1925 the camp served as a Military cadet training facility. This award is believed to date from the late 1920s when the camp had returned to its original mission.

This cast bronze medal was issued as an athletic award and to mark the 80th anniversary of the Ecole Alsacienne (The Alsatian School) in 1954.
