Jan Matejko (1838-1893) was a Polish artist famous for paintings of notable Polish political and military events. These include a Battle of Grunwald, numerous court scenes, and a gallery of Polish kings. He is also known for his portrayals of the famous Polish court jester Stańczyk. This beautiful coin would be a great gift for collectors of famous artists or world coins.

On 2 May 1945, after one of the most intense battles in human history, the guns at last stopped firing amongst the ruins of Berlin. According to Soviet veterans, the silence that followed the fighting was literally deafening. Less than four years after his attack on the Soviet Union, Hitler’s self-proclaimed thousand-year Reich had ceased to exist.
At a formal handover ceremony on December 20, 1999, Macau, the last remaining dependent state in Asia and, therefore, the final vestige of European colonialism in the region, reverted to Chinese sovereignty after 442 years of Portuguese rule. This beautiful Brilliant Uncirculated crown commemorates the event and would be a welcome addition to any collection of world coins.
