Israel State Medal – Mateh Yehuda Township – 60mm Bronze – 1976 – Original Packaging – Mateh Yehuda Township, Official Award Medal, 5736-1976, the regional council “Mateh Yehuda,” located in the hills of Jerusalem, is part of the area which belonged to the tribe of Judah, hence its name. The council was set up in 1964 and it encompasses 61 settlements, one of the largest in Israel. The obverse inscription reads: “Mateh Yehuda Regional Council.” In the center, a stylized figure of a lion which stands atop a sheaf of wheat and a cogged wheel. The reverse depicts a stylized panorama, a mother holding a child in her arms while the father is doing construction work. On the right, a stylized head of a lion. Above, on the left, a citation: “And the cities of Judah shall be built,” Isaiah 44:26. The State emblem with the words “State of Israel” in Hebrew and English is inscribed on the edge. All the medals are numbered. Bronze – 1,946 have been numbered, 126 have been melted. The medal comes as shown in its original mint packaging.
