1978 Mexican Independence Hero Jose Maria Morelos Silver 100 Peso Coin

This coin is fresh out of a roll of brilliant uncirculated coins!

Each 100 Peso features a portrait of General Jos Mara Morelos, the 19th century Mexican revolutionary who led the Mexican War of Independence (1810-1821). It is inscribed with the words “PLATA PURA 20 GR LEY .720,” which translates to mean pure silver 20 grams .720 fine. The reverse of each Silver 100 Peso features the Mexican coat of arms: an eagle with a snake in its beak, standing atop a cactus. It is inscribed with the words “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS,” or United Mexican States.
