The note shows an image of Dr. José Gaspar RodrÃguez de Francia y Velasco (January 6, 1766 – September 20, 1840), a Paraguayan lawyer and politician and one of the first leaders of Paraguay following its independence from Spain on May 14 & 15, 1811. An interesting aside is that this note was printed in Casa da Moeda do Brasil, the Brazilian Mint.
