Description

The economy of Argentina is one of the most studied in modern history. The country has many economic advantages, especially with regards to it’s agricultural output. However, these have been offset by political instability due to a military takeover of the government in the 1930s. Argentina would remain under various military dictatorships until 1983, and experience a devastating hyperinflation event.

Available at Black Mountain Coins are these 1,000,000 pesos banknotes printed from 1981-83. Emphasizing national pride, the obverse depicts General José de San Martín who freed Argentina from the Spanish Empire in the 1810s. The reverse depicts the the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, where Argentinians gathered to force the removal of the local Spanish Government on May 25, 1810. This event would be the linchpin for South American independence.

These banknotes show clear signs of circulation. They have been screened for any significant blemishes that would heavily detract from overall eye appeal such as tears, stains, writing and pinholes. The note you receive will meet the grading standards to be considered as VERY FINE (VF) condition.
