The front of this polymer Nicaraguan 50 Colones polymer banknote shows an image of the Old Banco Central de Nicaragua bank building while the back has a scene of the Cañon de Somoto, located in the Madriz department of Nicaragua. The Somoto Canyon National Monument covers an area of approximately 420.8 acres of which 310 acres are in the actual zone of the canyon. The Somoto Canyon was declared a national monument on November 29, 2005.
