Description
The colorful Surgeonfish can be found along the coast of Western Australia and throughout the waters of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland to northern New South Wales. The most distinguishing characteristics of this marine species is its amazing ability to change color and its extremely sharp scutes, dorsal and anal fins, hence the name Surgeonfish. The coin’s obverse depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2012 year-date and monetary denomination.
