Scotland – Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews – £5 – 2004 – Crisp Uncirculated – Pick-363 – The front of the Five Pound note is largely the same as the existing Royal Bank of Scotland £5 notes, apart from the fact the Royal and Ancient Golf Club’s crest is shown and that the serial number only appears once. In addition all the serial numbers for this commemorative banknote commence with “R&A.“ The back of the note has been completely redesigned and shows the R&A clubhouse and the 18th green on the Old Course, the Captain’s silver clubs and golf balls, the Claret Jug and a portrait of Old Tom Morris. Two million banknotes have been printed for the bank by De La Rue Currency and are in general circulation in Scotland like all other Royal Bank of Scotland banknotes. The Royal Bank of Scotland has been issuing banknotes since 1727 and there are currently over £ billion worth in circulation. This note is listed in Krause’s Standard Catalog of World Paper Money as Pick 363.
