The Snowshoe cat is an American breed that was developed in the 1960s by breeder Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty. The breed is predominantly a mixture of Siamese and American Shorthair cats with particular recessive genes. Snowshoe cats are intelligent, docile, affectionate and are at their best when in human company. They can be taught to open doors and perform other tricks. The reverse of this coin depicts a Snowshoe cat and her two kittens.
