This is how the PCGS way to store the collection.
| Code: | Encapsulation & Long-Term Storage
PCGS pioneered the tamper-evident, sonically-sealed, high security capsule as a method of reinforcing its Guarantee of Grade & Authenticity of each PCGS coin.
In addition, the unique certification number permanently sealed inside each coin capsule may be utilized by the coin's owner as a reliable means of identification after the PCGS coin re-enters the marketplace.
Equally important, PCGS's hard plastic holder provides optimum protection for safe, long-term storage of rare coins.
The Series Number and Coin Number used on the PCGS certification insert correspond to the numbers listed in the PCGS Guide to collecting coins.
Series Number-The Series Number will designate each coin series as recognized by PCGS. For example, The Morgan Dollar series will have a different number from the Peace Dollar series, rather than grouping them under the generic title of "silver dollars". Some series will cover only one year, such as the Chain cents of 1793, as each significant type changes creates a new series.
Coin Number-The Coin Number is the number of a particular coin within that series. A 1932-P Washington Quarter, for instance, is coin number 1 of that series, and the 1932-D is coin number 2, and so on. The Coin shown above is series 52 and Coin 11, which means that it is from series 52 (Morgan Dollars 1878-1921) and it is an 1880-S (Coin #11).
Varieties-Discernible differences in coins of the same date and basic design are noted with the addendum of a letter to the Coin Number. For Example, if the 15th coin of a series is found with several major varieties, those coins would be listed as coin #15, #15A, #15B, #15C, and so on as needed. |
