Just starting out - Can you tell me which would be a better investment, Coins or Paper money? Also, what is the best price guide to use?

Well, in my humble opinion, the Krause Catalogs (Standard Catalog of World Coins) are a good place to start. It?s a good general price guide for world coins. Just remember that they are guides and the values are not carved in stone.
Some people have picked out errors in the catalogs, but when the book is one thousand pages plus long, I can see a few mistakes slipping in.
Also, there are specialized guides/catalogs for some different countries and time periods.
If you want to narrow it down to a definite country or century, I or one of the good citizens of the forum can point you toward a better guide, just post it.
I collect world Coins mostly, so my advice to you on which one to collect would be?..Paper Money, it leaves more coins for me! Twisted Evil
