Canadian Commemorative Coins

That's what many Canadian coin collectors are saying after the Royal Mint in Canada strayed from tradition this year and began releasing commemorative coins for anything remotely special that it could think of. Spacewalks, hockey, the Olympics, Pope John Paul II- all of the above were the beneficiaries of special coins this year in a country that normally releases one annually. Critics complain that this sudden surge in releases makes it financially impossible for most collectors to continue with their habits of collecting one of everything.
