Interesting set of CRISP UNCIRCULATED Japanese Invasion Money (JIM's), used by the occupying forces in Burma during World War II. When the Japanese occupied a country during the war they made a practice of printing occupation notes in local currency. They also pictured native themes on the currency to make the local people more comfortable in using it. This set was issued between 1942 and 1944 and includes nine genuine notes used by Japanese forces during the occupation in Burma (currently known as Myanmar). Please note that these banknotes are NOT all of the same size. They vary from 1 ¾” by 3 3/4” for the One Cent note to 3 3/16” by 6 3/4” for the One Hundred Rupees note. These nine notes are in Crisp Uncirculated condition and are listed in Krause’s Standard Catalog of World Paper Money – 11th Edition as Pick 9 through 17. Wonderful set of genuine currency with historical significance!
