China - Set of (4) Colored Butterfly Medallions - Proof - 2009 - Series II - The first set of these beautiful medallions was issued in 2005, can be found on our website and has been a huge hit with butterfly collectors. This new series has just been issued and is sure to be a big hit with collectors as well. I was not able to identify the species involved, but one of our clients, Mark Schmidt, was able to provide identificationof the species involved from left to right and top to bottom as follows: The “88” Butterlfly (Diaethria clymena), the Brazilian Morpho (Morpho aega), the Female Yellow Pansy(Precis (Juniona) hierta) and the Cairns Birdwing (Ornithoptera priamus).
