The following information pertains to the Regiment, but not necessarily Company “K”. The regiment mustered in August 16-18, 1862 in Rochester, NY, and was mustered out on May 28, 1865. It was in the Army of the Potomac's 2nd Corps, and was engaged in the battles at Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Cold Harbor and the siege of Petersburg to Appomattox, all major battles. All told, it lost (killed, wounded, missing) 642 officers and men and had one Medal of Honor awardee.
