Ancient Roman Coin - Over 1,500 Years Old - Certificate of Authenticity - The attached coin is an authentic Roman coin minted between 240 and 410 A.D. Roman coins circulated throughout the Empire, which stretched from Britain to the border of Persia. They were minted in vast quantities for everyday transactions and often circulated for long long periods of time. Coins were made by hand by inserting a metal blank between two dies and striking the upper die with a heavy hammer. The coins are not perfectly round. Most coins feature the head of the Roman Emperor on the obverse. The reverse types are varied reflecting both current concerns and history and mythology. The most common themes are military reflecting the political dominance of the Roman Army.
