1912-S Wheat Penny - Very Good. The famous wheat penny was produced from 1909 to 1958. The one-cent piece (or penny) has been through several designs during the past two centuries. The wheat penny got its name from the wheat heads that appear around the words "One Cent" on the reverse of the coin. The coin features Abraham Lincoln on the front and commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 16th U.S. president's birth. The wheat penny was designed by Victor D. Brenner and is popular among numismatists.
