One of the most amazing stories I have ever read has to do with this coin and the Turkish Admiral it is named after. In 1513 he developed a map of the Antarctic regions known as the Piri Reis map which has stumped scientists to this date. The map was amazingly accurate, but what really has the scientific community puzzled is that the coast of the Antarctic continent was under more than a mile of ice at the time that the map was created and had not been ice-free since the year 6,000 B.C.!
