There are currently seven denominations of Canadian coins in circulation: 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, $1, and $2. The official titles of the Canadian coins One Cent Piece, Five Cent Piece, Ten Cent Piece, Twenty-Five Cent Piece, Fifty Cent Piece, One Dollar Coin and Two Dollar Coin; they are commonly referred to as the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar, Loonie, and Toonie respectively. The variety and beauty of Canadian coins are as impressive as the nation itself.
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) produces all Canadian coins in circulation. The mint also designs and manufactures various collectible Canadian coins; Canadian gold coins, Canadian silver coins, Canadian palladium coins, and Canadian platinum coins (1989–1999) bullion coins; customized medals, tokens, and various other minted products. Canadian coins values are especially high for collectible coins that are minted with precious metals such as the Canadian maple leaf gold coin, various Canadian silver coins, Canadian Maple Leaf coins and the like.
